27 Wedding Suppliers You Need to Know About

I felt that this blog was essential, to hopefully reduce the amount of stress, bridezilla moments and to give you some amazing, different and memorable ideas for your big day.

It’s not a top 27, it’s a list of great suppliers…there are so many more that I will be telling you about in the future.  It’s more of the beginnings of a much needed bible…

  1. Alexandra The Violinist
Hi, this is me 🙂 haha.  It’s a little embarrassing writing about myself in a “you need me” kind of way.  You can see reviews that Brides have written about me here: http://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(alexandra-electric-violinist)_148651.htm

Here’s a little bit about me.  I’ve been performing at weddings for 14 years, I’m classically trained and can play all styles of music, catering for all venues, big or small.  I’m all about the details so let me know your colour scheme, as I can match it with the sashes on my music stand cover, and even wear a particular coloured dress if you’d like.  When it comes to your music, you can choose whatever you’d like, and if you don’t see it on my repertoire I will always do my best to get it for you.…and there’s a link to my website here:Alex Parker-54-Edit

  2. Samantha Lyann – Hair Stylist & Makeup Artist
Sam is the best at making anyone and everyone look beautiful.  She is also a bundle of fun.  I first met Sam when I was modelling for a commercial photo shoot, it was love at first sight haha, and now we are best friends haha.  She made me feel so comfortable and learnt really quickly what I liked and didn’t like in terms of hair and make-up and now I can’t do a shoot or show without her. Here’s a photo from that shoot…not how you’d want to look on your wedding day but it shows how awesome she is…look, I have pixie ears:

  3. The Little Sewing Shack – Dress Maker
Ruth Jackson is a wonderful seamstress, not only does she alter dresses, but she also designs and makes them, for you or your bridesmaids.  Ruth was one of my Mums first friends when we moved to Belton almost 27 years ago (when I was 1) and she also had a baby.  Me & Ruth’s daughter (Amy) grew up together and now she is my Maid of Honour.  Ruth is making my Bridesmaids dresses.  We begun our first appointment by looking through dresses of different styles with me and the girls, so that she could find out what we all liked.  In the second appointment she presented us with 10 designs.  We picked out our favourite 4 which was not an easy task, but she was such a huge help.  Can’t wait for the next appointmentwww.facebook.com/sewing.shack.3?fref=ts

  4. Gina – Smooch Rings Consultant
I first met Gina 6 years ago at the Doncaster Dome Wedding Fair, where she booked me for her wedding (she was exhibiting with Smooch too).  We became amazing friends, I love Gina to pieces.  She had a hand in me and Lee getting together (thank you Gina) and I am the God Mother to her beautiful daughter Hattie. When it came to choosing our wedding rings, I had a rough idea of what I wanted but Lee didn’t have a clue.  Gina was absolutely wonderful.  Not only did she have a huge selection of rings for us to see and try on, but she helped us narrow down our choices in order to make a final decision.  She is professional, friendly and knows exactly what she is talking about.  Most of my Brides have bought their rings from Gina at Smooch and they have all commented on how wonderful she is

  5. Ruby’s Adorables – Accessories
I had come across Cheryl at Ruby’s Adorables a few times, but we officially met in 2014 when she emailed me to ask if I could play at her friends vow renewal, who had terminal cancer and wanted to see her daughters be bridesmaids and to have a wonderful day for her family.  We are great friends now and she is helping me with my wedding accessories.  She joined me when I had my first wedding dress appointment 😀 she is so much fun and her jewellery is beautifulwww.rubysadorables.co.uk            07917887517

  6. Isabelle’s Luxury Ices
The most beautiful ice cream that I have every tasted (and that’s coming from a Ben & Jerry’s and Hagen Daas Lover).  The little old fashioned ice cream cart looks fantastic and the choice of ice creams are just mind blowing. The best bit is the amounts of ice cream that your guests can indulge is unlimited…U.N.L.I.M.I.T.E.D…they can also have a little Bose speaker playing gentle music at no extra cost.Mr.Clothier & I booked them for our wedding the second that we saw them.  I think it’s safe to say, the first day that I wake up as Mrs.Clothier I’ll be a stone heavier, guaranteed!!!

  7. Pete Hartley – Violinist
I have never actually met Pete in real life but we speak on the phone a fair bit to compare notes on our businesses and to generally chat haha.  I class Pete as a friend and he is the one who I trust and rely on when a Bride wants to book me for her wedding but her wedding date is already taken in my diary.  He is an incredible electric violinist (he plays the Mandolin too) and entertainer for any part of your day, from the Ceremony right through to the end of your Wedding Breakfast.  I recommend Pete Hartley in a heart beatwww.pete-hartley.co.uk                          07860605114

  8. James Sunderland – Pianist/Musician
I performed at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park Safari Nights last Summer.  Before my performance once Saturday I headed down early to have a cuppa in the courtyard with my Fiancé.  James was playing piano and singing, it sounded wonderful.  I could’ve sat there for hours and hours.  Lee said that James looked like a lad he plays football with…and it was.  He had no idea what his job was haha.James was so fantastic that I booked him for my birthday party to entertain my guests.  They all loved him.  You can check him out on iTunes, yep, he has released an album…see, told you he was good 🙂www.jdsunderland.com                          07929402631
  9. Flawless Photography
We booked James Revitt (Flawless Photography) for our Wedding next year.  We loved his photography style, and his personality.  It’s a big thing booking a photographer because you need to know that your guests will feel comfortable with them, and the more comfortable you feel, the better your photos will be.  It’s nice to have some posed photo’s but me & Lee want mostly natural photo’s of our friends and family, and the fun that everyone is having.  James definitely has the cool factor, looking like he is in a country and western film with his leather holsters for his camera’s

  10. Toast Master – Les Hizzett
Having a toast master is a really nice touch for a wedding.  Les makes sure that your guests know where they need to be and in a way hosts the wedding.  I think that it can make your wedding feel so much more special.I met Les when I first begun to play for weddings 14 years ago.  He is so funny, he always jokes with my brides that we are going to kill off his wife so that I can marry him. (His wife is lovely by the way).  Les was the first person that I booked for my wedding, before I had even booked the venue haha.  He told Lee that he had broken his heart by proposing to me haha.

  11. Red Floral Architecture
Talk about stunning, breath taking flowers and venue dressing.  Mats work is out of this world.  I first met him at a wedding fair years and years ago somewhere in Derbyshire.  My friend Emma (also a bridesmaid) was helping me for the day and I said to her that when I finally found someone to marry, I’d book Red Floral…and we have done.  He was at the top of my list.He invited me and Lee to visit him at his home to discuss flowers and he was great, he made us feel really comfortable and batted around ideas with us.  I am so excited now about the flowers & room dressing that I can hardly contain myself.

  12. Vibe Music – Mark Ellis
Mark Ellis is an incredible musician who set up Vibe Music.  They can offer pretty much anything Soul, Jazz or Swing for your big day, from solo artist to big bands.Mark taught my cousin Nadim Teimoori Saxophone who now easily has to be one of the best in the country.  He has become a really good family friend and is a really nice guy too.  You’ll really enjoy being involved with him and Vibe Music.  I think what Vibe offers is perfect for an evening reception, a Drinks Reception or to Jazz up your Wedding breakfast to diminish (really bad musical joke) the chance of an anti climax

  13. Fuse Fireworks
I work with Fuse Fireworks whenever I perform at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.  They do amazing fireworks displays which are designed and choreographed to the music.  For your Wedding they would set up a PA System as well as setting up the fireworks so that the display had the magic of music.  I am sure that you could pick your choice of music and they would choreograph a display to suit.  If you’d like a performer on a stage (like an electric violinist *winks*) with choreographed fireworks, Fuse will work alongside your performer/musician

  15. Photobooth4you
An absolute must for a wedding.  These guys are fantastic, fun, warm people.  Their Photo booth is by far the best that I have seen and experienced.  All guests get a print out of their photo’s and it goes in a guest book for your family & friends to write a message too.I met them at catwalk show that I was performing at last year, then the day after they were at a wedding fair which I was also exhibiting at…a month or so later, they were the photo booth for my God Daughters christening. As you can imagine, I have lots of photos to remember them by

  16. Lucie Campbell (Mayfair)
This is where Lee got my engagement ring from.  I pointed at ring in the window.  There were no prices and security on door.  After pointing out the ring, me and Lee had a moment outside the store where we kissed and cuddled for a few minutes and got lost in each other..before we knew it, a lady working in the shop next door came out and said “I want some of that love” and group hugged us (she looked a bit like queen Latifa).  Little did I know he’d gone back and bought a made to order ring

  17. Brides Up North (Unveiled Magazine)
Wedding Fairs…a must for all you engaged couples out there.  Brides up North host fantastic wedding fairs, you’ll often see me exhibiting at them.  The choice and quality of the businesses there are just incredible.  Julia & the whole team are lovely and always on hand to help.  Wedding Fairs are a great way to see what is available for  your wedding…and there really is a lot, things that you would never even think about

  18. I Do Magazine
The size of the I Do Magazine Wedding Fairs is overwhelming and the fashion catwalk at each event is huge and absolutely stunning.  The team at ‘I Do’ host a small number of wedding fairs compared to some other companies but the ones that they do host are humongous.  Everything that you need is literally under one roof.  A great event to take your parents/bridesmaids to

  19. Tyson Limousines
A family run business, Helen Tyson & her husband have a selection of 7 types of car which I think are very ‘classic’ for weddings.  I have known them for 14 years now and they wonderfully helped me with cars for my Mums family when it was her funeral.  We had two Rolls Royce Phantoms.  It had some impact and looked much more cheery than funeral cars.

  20. Yorkshire Yurts
If you want something unique, a marquee with a difference, you have to see these yurts.  Helen Davies (Wedding Concierge) invited me to perform at the first open day for Yorkshire Yurts entering the Wedding Market and I was blown away.  Not only can you hire them, but I’m pretty sure they do ‘Glamping’ too

  23. Chique Boutique
I want to live here.  This is a girls paradise when it comes to dresses and outfits.  They are all in colour order, I can hardly contain myself just thinking about it.  Every time I visit, I leave with no less than three dresses.  The ladies in there are so helpful and always know exactly what will suit you the moment you walk in.  A must for your wedding guests

  26. Samantha Durnan
Samantha is an amazing singer/guitarist who met at Hardwick Hall in durham only a week ago.  She has a soft and angelic voice, and a warm and inviting personality.  Like a lot of us female musicians, Sam’s dad is her roadie.  he had a record deal with a company in Dubai but she is now back in the UK.  Not only is she an incredible Musician, she is a song writer.  I think that what Samantha offers is perfect for a drinks reception or lounge music for a wedding breakfast.
