Wow…last night was absolutely amazing. McDonalds (yep, the people who make the burgers), booked me to perform at their annual charity ball. They are going to send me a blog about what they raise money for and what they do with it…so that I can tell you all about it.
2:40am I arrived home and just couldn’t sleep. Winding down after a show is really difficult because I’m so full of excitement and adrenaline. So as you can imagine, I’m exhausted today, on as little as 4 hours sleep, as I am playing for a wedding.
The Hilton Doubletree Hotel in Sheffield welcomed me and Barry (lighting and sound technician) at 11am to begin setting up, and then Paula from ‘Paula Blake Weddings’ arrived to dress the room. It looked beautiful with black chair covers and these beautiful bright sashes that were a lovely shade of blue. I think that it took her 5hours to dress the room – it was a huge room, really huge.
My performance could not have gone better, I was so proud, I enjoyed it so much. And honestly, the entire performance, you could have heard a pin drop. Everybody’s eyes were drawn to the stage, and I could feel everybody looking at me…which is really nerve racking! I performed a remix of Pirates of the Caribbean as my finisher, wow, I love the laser choreography for that track.
I wore my favourite dress. It is a black and yellowy green fishtail dress with a huge peplum and beading around the waist – I can’t describe how amazing it is. The yellowy green bits changed colour throughout the show. At one point I posed to the right with my bow pointing to the floor and my dress had changed orange…I didn’t even know that it did that haha!
After my performance I sat in the bar to chill out for a bit. I met some lovely people who all commented on the performance. One gentleman said to me, “Do you do it for a family member or for yourself?” It felt so great to be able to say “I do it for myself” and really mean it. *Smiles*
I feel like I’ve grown a lot, personally and professionally over the last two years, I feel different, and it feels gooooooooooood!!!
The photographers asked for my details so that they can e-mail me the photo’s that they took – so as soon as I receive them I’ll let you all have a look.
Well, it’s time to get ready for todays wedding. Rachel will be getting all gorgeous ready for walking down the aisle at 12:30pm EEP, so excited for her. Rachel and her fiancé won my services in a competition for their wedding, they are really lovely…I’ll let you know how it goes
Ps. The people high up in McDonalds that I met said that if I need any case studies for my business degree to let them know, and the lady Emma who booked me, said that I can spend a day or so with her at work seeing how everything runs (not in the McDonalds restaurants though hehe…managerial type stuff)…oh ye, I played at Emma’s wedding at Chatsworth House almost 3 years ago now. It was the first time me and Barry ever worked together, and the first time I ever worked with a laser show. That allowed a massive turning point in my life…the best thing ever!
